Projects » Dementia Garden
Location: Southern General Hospital( now Queen Elizabeth University Hospital ) - Langlands Building, Glasgow
We were asked to Design & Build a Dementia Garden in the existing garden area in the Langlands Building of the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow.
Access was restricted to passing all equipment & plant through a single short corridor at one end of the building, while the wards were still live so care and due diligence were required at all times throughout the duration of the project.
The area was completely stripped back to provide a blank canvas then work began creating a multi use area providing, exercise, activities, entertainment, relaxation and fun for all the Patients.
The end results provided - circular paths, with handrails to assist, dried riverbed as backdrop for plants and trees, large usable planter area, large gazebo with outdoor TV/CD, memory shed, crazy golf area, old fashioned garden with washing line and bench and seating areas throughout the garden.
